One of the more interesting pictogram in 2003 has appeared in Valdichiana, in the Commune of Cortona, in the province of Arezzo. The signaling has been made by some pilots of the aeroclub of Bettolle.
On June 21 the editing of arezzonotizie.it publishes an article on this crop: Joke or extraterrestrial? crop circles in Valdichiana.
Many news of crop circles found near Cortona have reached to the national ufologic center. One of these phenomenons has been sighted by the pilots of the Valdichiana aereoclub of Bettolle, in a field of wheat in the zone of of Cortona near Creti.
During a flight in the zone they have noticed strange signs.
The circles measure around 50 meters - the bigger - and 17 meters the smallest, with "arms" that measure around 30 meters. The wheat has not been removed nor cutted but perfectly crushed to the ground.
Pordenone, Trieste, Bologna, Sardinia, Perosa Canavese, Sabaudia Latina and Naples, are the other places where the mysterious figures have appeared. At the moment the informed authorities don't know how to give an explanation. They expect the results of the investigations of the enquirers of the CUN.
The national ufologic center (CUN) before giving an opinion on the real nature of the phenomenon, underlines that the first semester of 2003 marks a considerable peak in the Italian ufologic casuistry, regarding the signaling of UFO sightings.

Sunday, June 22 nd 2003, in the afternoon, a staff of the Ufologic Academic Group Scandicci (GAUS) effects an investigation on the spot. What follows it is drawn out from their site gaus.it:
Since 15.30 o'clock was clearly visible, from the road, the mass of people (curious and inhabitants of the zone) standing in the field. Nevertheless we come to know that the circle was there from already two days, having appeared on Thursday night.
The circle has the conformation of the typical "key". It means a great circle above and a smaller below, with a "C" between. The inclination is 45° North, lined up to the lines of ploghing of the field. The ears simply are folded up, in counteclockwise direction. The edges are well marked and they don't show any irregularity.
As it often happens, it is not simple to appraise the authenticity of the phenomenon. For sure we can say that the figure has notable dimensions, 120 meters length, and it is geometrically interesting. For now we have not found particular anomalies, but we wait for further verifications.
