(We apologize for possible errors in the translation) During the night between Friday and Saturday 2 July, has been "drawn" a new circle in the wheat on the slant of a visible hillock from the road for Offida (country in the province of Ascoli Piceno). A little while ago, around the 21.00 o'clock of Saturday 2 July, I have observed the circle from the road, around 150 meters straight far. The circle seems to be of notable dimensions, I believe over 25 meters of diameter. Inside the circle is drawn a sort of " six petals flower". The circle seems drawn with notable precision. Close to the circle, to the right of the observer, it seems drawn another image that resembles to a "knife" Egyptian hieroglyphic type. But this image could be a "artificial" of the wheat and not to belong to the sketch of the circle. On July, the 4th, also appears the news on the website www.anconaonline.com with a brief article: “Again a mysterious sketch and so many conjectures. After a week demanded by the mysterious circle appeared on a field of wheat in the zone "Ponticeli" of Offida, a new and great sketch has now appeared in the zone"Lava” The following day the local press also interests itself to the case . “Il Messaggero Adriatico” public, to signature of Nicola Savini, the following article: ”OFFIDA - it doesn't end to surprise the pictogram appeared last Saturday on the field of wheat of ownership of Emidio Straccia in the region "Lava", in the territory of the Commune of Offida. A crowd of people, more and more numerous, has literally invaded the borders of the road “Mezzina” that it unites "Castel di Lama" to "Offida". From the rectilinear one in front of the Bed and Breakfast of ownership of “Middie d' F'lò”, in fact, that "gigantic flower" is very well visible, graven in that field of gilded wheat. The owner is exasperated by now. Curious, photographers and journalists, a crowd of people that grows hour after hour, leaving the road to penetrate themselves into the field, bringing, with theirs prolonged stamping, more than few damages to the crop. Is eve happened that a motorist, distracted by so much unusual uproar, is ended out of the road, luckily without bringing serious consequences. And it is not ended. On Sunday evening, even police had to intervene on the spot of the station of Offida to avoid some possibly disagreeable drawbacks. In the opinion of the policemen, however, the appearance of these curious circles is nothing else that the boast of some jokers. “It concerns only the joke in the summer 2005” as the same policemen have sustained, inviting the people to leave. And yesterday morning, Emidio Straccia, by now exasperated by the unexpected notoriety of his field of wheat, also turns to the commander of the local Town Police of the Commune of Offida to ask suggestions on how to behave himself in this particular situation. The recommended solution, would be to try to reap the wheat. “I have thought there - he has answered - but I have not found, at least for now, available combine harvesters, because all the farmers of the zone are proceeding to the work of threshing, for fear that such phenomenons can also happen in their fields”. In short, in these days the matter of the mysterious circles of Offida is on the mouth of everybody. So many are the conjectures that are formulated and so many the express opinions on the unusual phenomenon that is upsetting the town. The more ones believe to a joke, but there are also someone who slants for other hypotheses, more imaginative. There is someone - for instance an italian expert of crop circle, Adriano Forgione - who thinks that circles could be made by powerful magnetic strengths. Somebody else believe that deal with extraterrestrial intelligence, which send special signals to be able to establish contacts, and that mysterious circles would not be anything else other than a form of communication. But there is also who, on the field, has noticed some human traces, some small details that could bring to disclose the author or the authors, swearing that a group of young people can have been there to complete such actions, true artists with so much of fancy and imagination able to form these pictograms, in the turn of two hours, at the most three. The mystery, however, at least for now, remains, and the procession of curious it doesn't mention to stop.” |
