The day 8 of July 2004, the newspaper “La provincia di Como” publish an article by Manuela Clerici, about a crop circle recovered few days before between Appiano Gentile and Veniano. It follows the article.
The farmer “discloses” the mistery of the "star" formed by the folded up ears. Mysterious figure in the field. “It is only guilt of the fertilizer” APPIANO GENTILE - “Traces left from “visitors”? Not at all, it is just guilt of the fertilizer. Indeed prosaic the mystery that would hide behind the strange sketch, with the shape of a star, appeared in a field of wheat at the border of Veniano. A phenomenon that remainds that of the famous “crops circles”: the sketches that have been attributed to the Ufos in England. But in this case the paranormal issue should be excluded entirely, according to the explanation furnished by an agriculturist of the zone, which has already happened to see fields of wheat with strange sketches in past. «It is a phenomenon that finds explanation in the fertilizer - observes Fortunato Terzaghi - In the points in which the ground is more manured, when it rains and it throws wind, the wheat sometimes react like this. An excess of fertilizer that provokes a sort of tiredness of the wheat, so that the ears, by itself rather yelding, become fewer resistant to the violence of intense roars of water and they fold up. The ears, while stretching themselves to earth, assume strange forms caused by the direction of the wind and the rain. Also in Bulgarograsso, in a field manured with manure and sewages, in some points the wheat acted this way, evidently where was fallen more fertilizer. Such phenomenon is more frequent after a period of drought. In May, when the ears are not tall yet, the wheat folded up by the violence of intense storms, try to rise again itself. Instead, in periods like this, when the wheat has reached maturation, the wheat remains down on the ground». Fortunate Terzaghi, pointing out the ears folded up to earth, makes to notice: «ears are not crushed, neither stamped on, but the effect is natural. In more points it is visible the "whirlwind effect" produced by the wind. The ears appear to be broken by the violence of the beating rain». And there is more, according to what the chronicles of a similar episode happened recently in Mercato Saraceno report: the phenomenon, caused by the fertilizer, would easily be repeatable anywhere and with any form. Experienced hands, in the act of stretching the fertilizer, already draw the draft of the figure. Then this figure suddenly reveals itself when it will rain. Giving credit to this thesis, crop circle as that appeared in Appiano are easily reproducible in the desired forms or shapes.” |
