The Novara edition of the newspaper "La Stampa" on September 21 writes an article on this case, entitling it “Circles of mistery in the rice-field”:
“The mystery of crop circles this time it concerns the rice. Circles have appeared in a rice-field near Novara, in the Commune of Garbagna, along the road that connects Olengo to Terdobbiate. They have been sighted by a pilot of an little airplane that was crossing the zone, and from aerial view he has perceived the outline of the strange circles in the cultivated field, where had already begun the operations of harvest. Two concentric and perfect circles, drawn in the rice and connected through two strips to another circle. Are The ears of rice have been crushed to earth with an operation that - in agricultural terms - it is called in italian «allettamento» [sorry, i don't know the english term] . Work of the man or other external factors? There are not definitive interpretations. For the moment, the marshal of the station of the policemen of Vespolate, on which the territory depends, has intervened informing the provincial command and delimiting the field with a strip of "no-trespassing" colored ribbon. The neo-mayor of Garbagna, Davide Milanesi, says: «It doesn't deal with a real sequestration but with a safeguard measure, waiting for checks. The owners of the field, Michele and Ludovico Pollastro, have suspended for now the operations of harvest, waiting for further information. Yesterday they have also arrived technical of agriculture sector from the Province of Novara, while on the road arrive a lot of cars and curious that try to venture themselves in the rice-field to see and to touch, regardless of the colored ribbon. The mystery of the «crop circles», geometric figures or very complex harmonic sketches, are not something new. The first sightings would go up again to 1972 in the countries of the South of England: very simple circular forms that became more complex in the following years. From circles with a ring to circles with double crown (more or less as those in relief in the rice-field of Garbagna). The phenomenon is increased all over the world beginning from 1990 feeding hypothesis and day-dreams, actually to mobilize studious of various type. In some cases it would have been recorded, inside the circles, an increase of the radioactivity. In the case of Garbagna the observatories are more inclinable to believe that it deals with the work of one or more jokers, with the artistic vocation, as happened in other parts of the globe. A curiosity: the phenomenon was also known by American Sioux, that held these symbols an ancient cosmic alphabet used by the gods.”
Roberto Malini writes on the site ufoitalia.net that Mr. G. Enrico T., pilot and photographer, has taken some photos of the crop of Garbagna the day 21 September: “The field has been fenced and some champions have been sent to the university of Pavia for analysis. The crop circle of Garbagna is a classical "Dumbell" of excellent invoice, with paths and an a "sacred portal" inside the greatest ring, a narrow linear path perfectly to connect the two circular figures and a clean division in two sectors semi-circular (the light and the darkness, the two natures of the moon, the masculine and the female one, the creation and the annihilation) as it regards the smallest ring. Formation is not particularly complex, but surely is realized with extreme care and skill, pleasant to the sight and worthy to been showed up in the group of the best circles in the wheat in the summer 2004 in Italy.”
Roberto Malini always adds some interesting details: “[...] The crop circle of Garbagna is a masterpiece of the Italian land-art, because of its essential and strongly symbolic sketch, in which the authors have associated oriental signs to the classical esoteric figure of the "dumbell", and both because it has been realized in a cultivation of rice, that is very difficoult to fold up with so much precision. [...] Subsequently to September 21, circulates some rumors about a sighting of UFOs above the crop circle, but the news has immediately been denied.”
Even the site “The Circlemaker” a praise is written to the people that have completed this “technical prodigy” of “Land Art”.
Another interesting report is made by the team of Zonamagica.net, according to which it results enough evident the human matrix of this crop circle, thesis also confirmed by the fact that in "Vignarello di Tornaco", few kilometers of distance from Garbagna, has taken place, really Sunday, the "party of the magic".
An interesting curiosity comes from the persons responsible of the project Herstel, (www.hwh22.it), which sustain that the circle should be dated many days before the recovery.
