On July 11 th 2004 the newspaper "La Stampa" publish an article on a crop circle recovered near Marene in the province of Cuneo. It follows the article.

“Interpretation of the «magic circle» discovered in a piece of ground. The owners: “We have noticed nothing, it has been done at night”.
MARENE - It corresponds to the symbol that the alchemists use for identifying the mercury, the new «crop circle», the circle in the wheat, appeared in Marene in the last days (diameter of around 20 meters).
Inside the sketch there is a semicircle under a Greek cross. The sketch, as the one ofFossano, have been realized in a field of oat in the lowland of Marene, to around half kilometer from the inhabited area, in direction of Racconigi. The farmers, that prefer to stay in the anonymity, have learned the news from the images published on the newspaper. «We have not noticed anything unusual - they explain from their farmhouse that is very near to the field -. Who has made that sketch, acted taking advantage of the dark, because in the daytime we would have noticed them. There has been a night, around 10 days ago, in which the dogs have barked more than usual, but we have not given importance to the thing». Among the first ones to make an investigation on the spothas been Maurizio Nicolis, of the National Ufoligic Center. By the initial surveys has emerged that, as for the «crops» on the provincial street between Fossano and Salmour, there are no traces of access to the sketch: the lowered ears are alone those that trace the figure. «What would make to think about a joke of some jokers - it comments Nicolis - it is that, unlike the circles of Fossano, the ears are been stamped on and they don't result entangled on themselves, but folded up along the ground. It is possible to draw this effect making to flow an axle on the stems». That the sketch of Marene is a joke, it is demonstrated also by the recovery of parts of computer's motherboards (“ram” and “microchip”) along the whole run [...] Don't worry themselves about authenticity or joke, they are the owners of the ground. «We have fixed the threshing among a week - they declare - and we will proceed according to the calendar». In the next days will be cancelled also the crop circles of Fossano. Marco Mariano, the grower of the fund visited by thousand curious, coming from the whole North Italy, has established that the threshing will be done, to the later, within the weekend. “Also for the circles of Marene we have made collectings of ears - it specifies the ufologist. They will Be envoyed to the laboratory of Emilia Romagna that is already analyzing those of Fosano. The results will be divulged within the end of July and they could give a lot of answers.”

we can describe the crop starting from north side: a semicircle immediately is introdued with diameter of 14,60 meters. The central body is composed from a circle that it has the same diameter of the precedent. Inside the circle it is present an inverted "C" long 6 meters; the image finally concludes with two straight lines that are intersected to cross, remembering the sketch of the crop circle appeared in Perosa (To) last year, where the straight line east-west measure 14,60 meters, while that north-south 12,60 meters. The stems of the oat introduce the typical folding on the nodules, which appear thickened, as it happen in all the authentic crop circles. The aspect of the oat is peculiar in how much the fold of the nodule is not elastic, but it immediately happens above the height roots of the first nodule. If it is tried to bring it in right position, it inexorably breaks. From the analysis of the samples withdrawn among the ears that formed the sketch, it has been possible to notice the presence of the typical spheroids that are present in the vegetation that suffers strong overheating and that characterize the crop circles.
